Friday analysis - Mercedes far from streets ahead
With the lap time difference between Pirelli's soft and supersoft tyre compounds bigger than expected at 2.5s, practice in Singapore suggested that three pit stops will be required in Sunday's race. Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel has won the last three races in Singapore, but his hopes of a fourth successive win took a dive on Friday when his RB10 developed an engine problem at the end of FP1. FIA revises radio ban to driver performance only
Formula One racing's governing body, the FIA, has revised its planned restrictions on pit-to-car radio and pit board messages ahead of this weekend's 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix. Messages concerning a driver's own performance will not be allowed, but the expected ban on those relating to car performance will now be postponed until 2015 to give teams more time to prepare
