Ford Casting Numbers Explained

Ford casting numbers are broken down into indvidual digits and groups of numbers.

First Digit Decade D = 1970's
Second Digit Year 3 = 3rd year of decade
Third Digit Car Line Z = Mustang
Fourth Digit Parts Group/Division E = Engine Group
Set of 4-5 digits Part Number 9301 is a fuel pump
Suffix Part Revision B = First Revision


Read below to decipher your part number:

First digit is a letter than indicated the decade as follows:
A = Never Used
B = 1950's
C = 1960's
D = 1970's
E = 1980's
F = 1990's

Second digit is the year. So if the numbers started with D3 would be 1973. C7 is 1967.

Third digit is the Car Line.
A = Full Size Ford/Galaxie 1958 and later
B = Bronco 1970-1973, Maverick, Fairmont
C = Remanufactured part 1966-1975, Elite, Capri
